On the 5th of July 2018, the National Council of Financial Supervisors for securities (CMVM), banking (Bank of Portugal), and insurance and pension funds (ASF) published jointly a warning about the risks of buying virtual currencies in online platforms, such as the credit expansion, the structured products that exploit investors’ misunderstanding of the capital markets, the engineering securities that neglect risks and the regulatory arbitrage.
