In a most recent step, and as mentioned above, the authorities seem to also want to stop all mining activities. While, according to most recent news reports,174 the PBoC does not seem to plan to issue a policy requiring the closure of bitcoin mining operations, it seems to intend to enforce local regulators to monitor and even restrict the power use of miners in certain regions of China. The local governments seem to have been asked to guide miners towards an exit from the business.
